How long have you been in business?
The Center for Eating Disorders was founded in 1983.

Support, education, and outpatient treatment for children, adolescents, and adults with eating, weight, and/or body image disorders and their families.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The Center was founded by current executive director, Judith Banker. Judith is past president of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED), an international professional association. She maintains a clinical practice while presenting regularly around the globe, and publishing on issues pertaining to eating disorder treatment, prevention, and research. She received the AED 2011 Clinical Leadership Award and serves on the AED Advisory Board, and the Binge Eating Disorder Association (BEDA) and the F.E.A.S.T. (Families Empowered and Supporting Eating Disorder Treatment) Advisory Boards.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
The Center for Eating Disorders is the only non-profit multidisciplinary program for eating disorders treatment research, and prevention in Michigan.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are opening a satellite office in the Bloomfield Hills area and we partner with a facility in Annapolis, Maryland.
In addition we are consulting with St. Joseph Mercy Health System to develop an intensive outpatient/day treatment service for children and adolescents with eating disorders to open in summer 2012.

The Center for Eating Disorders is located at 111 North First Street in downtown Ann Arbor, just north of the intersection of First and Huron.

We are a fee for service practice. We provide statements that can be submitted by patients for insurance reimbursement.

The Center is overseen by executive director and founder Judith Banker and clinical director Amy Pershing.
