How long have you been in business?
We began the Landscape Contracting business in 1986; we started the retail nursery in 1992.
What is your primary product or service?
Retail Nursery: trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, herbs Landscape Contracting: patios, walkways, walls, new gardens, garden renovations Seasonal: Hayrides & Pumpkins in October; Christmas trees, wreaths, roping and live potted trees in December
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Dan went to school to become a landscape contractor; Jane is a people person and learned plants, so she's the main person in the greenhouse.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are a friendly, fun, family-owned nursery. Our staff is helpful and efficient, we have great fun and silly sales, and the majority of our plants are Michigan-grown--either by us or by others in Michigan. We also have a lifetime guarantee on trees and shrubs; and our own tree farm.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One retail location for the landscape and retail nursery. We have a 56-acre tree farm in Parma, Michigan, that is wholesale only. No plans to expand, just to keep doing what we do even better!

I am at the corner of Wagner and Waters Roads, on the southwest side of Ann Arbor, about 1/2 mile south of Scio Church Road.

Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Jane Riddle is the owner; she handles retail and marketing Dan Riddle is the General Manager Justin Francis is the Landscape Division Manager Phil Walsh is the Greenhouse Manager
What are your hours of operation?
They vary seasonally. Primarily, from April-December 23, we're open 9-6 Monday-Friday; 9-4 on Saturdays. In May, June, October and December, we're also open Sundays from 1-4. The retail is closed from Dec 23 at noon until the first Monday in April. Office is open 12 months, limited hrs in winter.
